Facilities & Equipment

The Research Imaging Institute has a wide array of scanning equipment, stimulus presentation devices, and workshops. Our scanners use multiple modalities and physical sizes, including a microPET for rodent research and several human MRI machines. A variety of stimulus can be presented, either via a portable computer running E-Prime or through TMS or a gas delivery system for odor research. Our mechanical and electrical workshops are fully equipped for RF coil fabrication, and our Radiochemistry Lab have synthesis systems and quality control for producing radiopharmaceuticals.

All RII equipment is 100% research dedicated and has been purchased through shared instrumentation grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the University of Texas System.

The RII occupies 35,000 square feet across the first and second floors of the McDermott Clinical Sciences building. The RII provides office space, laboratory space and administrative support to all RII scientists. RII personelle include 18 full-time faculty, 16 full-time technical staff, and 8 full-time administrative and secretarial staff.
